October 27th, 2009

Filed under: Artist of the Month, Sitwell Happenings — LoopyLazuli @ 5:37 pm

Jeffery Peeno was born and raised in Northern Kentucky. Early in his schooling Jeffery was diagnosed with a learning disability that made it difficult for him to focus. In high school jeffery discovered art. It was his love of art that gave him the confidence to improve himself in all areas of learning. He attended film school at Temple University where he also continued his study of fine arts. He currently teaches art in Northern Kentucky and hopes that other students with problems in the classroom will find success through art. He has a wife named Alison, who he dedicates this show to, and a son named Jasper.

Filed under: Sitwell Happenings, Special Events, Uncategorized — LoopyLazuli @ 4:50 am

Laurel & Hardy Pictures, Images and Photos

Sitwell’s is pleased to announce that Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy have consented to join us for
an evening of silly cinema on Friday evening October 9 starting at 7PM.

Cost for the films only is $5 for adults while children 12 & younger are free (!). Naturally we
encourage you to enliven the night even more by enjoying some of Sitwell’s famous food
and drink while you laugh at the antics of our on-screen heroes.

Movies to be shown will include a silent film shown with live keyboard accompaniment.
These films are guaranteed to be among the funniest you will see this (or any other) year!

Tell your friends and family about this fun-filled event at Sitwell’s Coffee House, 324
Ludlow Avenue in Clifton. Seating is limited so arrive early to grab your space!

“The Chimp Tent”, the Tri-State’s own local chapter of The Sons of the Desert (the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society) presents an evening of funny films involving Laurel and Hardy. Movies likely to be shown include: 1) Towed In A Hole; 2) Brats; 3) Big Business; and 4) Busy Bodies. Depending on what time it is, and if the audience wants more (and who wouldn’t?), possible ‘bonus’ films might include Hog Wild or County Hospital. Films will start around 7PM but please arrive early as seating is limited and you’ll want to perhaps order some food and/or beverages to add to the enjoyment of the evening.

Questions? Please contact Gene at 513-559-0112 or at chimptent@live.com.

STREETSCAPES Street Painting Festival 2009

September 26th-27th from 10am to 6pm

Clifton’s Annual Street Painting Festival is at it again this year, showcasing beautiful artwork by some of the world’s most famous artists.  Local artists create custom chalk, and turn Telford St. into an outdoor walking art museum. The artists will be working throughout the weekend, as people from all over the city come to watch the progress, and finally the finished masterpieces!  Bring your family and friends to participate in one of Clifton’s most exciting events.  There will be chalk and spaces for the kids to come and create their own works of art as well.  The festival includes live music, local food and drink, local art, and tons of smiles!  Sitwells has always been a huge part of the art scene here in Cincinnati, and during this weekends festival, Sitwells will be displaying works of art by many of the participating artists.  We will look forward to seeing you there, and if you are new to the city, this is a great way to meet new friends and get a feel for the homey, artsy, yummy vibe that the gaslight has to offer!

Here is a peek of some of the artists’ work that will be participating this year!

post Gregory Harper Modern Celtic Bard July 24th

July 16th, 2009

Filed under: Music, Uncategorized — aaronsardina @ 2:17 am

Craftsman, historian, musician and entertainer, Gregory Harper is a modern bard. His repertoire spans everything from ancient Celtic ballads to popular covers, as well as original compositions. Music is in his blood – the Harpers were court minstrels to Clan Buchanan in Scotland, and he continues their tradition of story and song to this day. He quite literally bridges the gap between ancient folk tunes and lore and modern day music – preserving the tradition while making his own contribution to its lineage.
